This multi-sport program gives children a positive first step into athletics. The essentials of each sport are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a focus on fun.l All games and activities are designed to allow students to explore balance, movement, hand/eye coordination and skill development at their own pace.

During the Marine Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine several types of marine based devices and vehicles. Students construct working prototypes that teach and reinforce the concepts of above water transportation, underwater exploration, and harnessing the power of water. They gain exposure to careers in naval, ocean, and marine engineering as well as naval architecture.

Watch Legos come to life on this fun filled class of Robotics.  Students will use the latest technology and programming from LEGO® to turn LEGO® bricks, gears, and motors into vibrant, interactive creations.  They get to choose to build  model featuring different theme from sports (Goalie, kicker and cheerer) city models like airplane,  animal safari models like crocodile and Starwars model like X-wings. It is learning, building and fun all in one!!!

BeginnersLevel One: Basics Students will learn the basic controls of the game such as how to move, mine, build, craft, and defend. Depending on the session students will learn how to build basic structures such as houses or castles. Students will also be able to join with other classmates in a fun and safe environment where they can learn to work together to accomplish a task.

Level Two: Redstone Students will learn how to further their crafting expertise and also how to farm in minecraft. Also students in this session will also learn how to build basic circuits using the included redstone Mechanics of minecraft. Students will also be able to join with other classmates in a fun and safe environment where they can learn to work together to accomplish a task.

Advance
Level Three: NPC Creation Students will learn how to interact with and even build their own custom NPC (Non-player characters. Students in this session will program and create a NPC using an ingame feature to make a character of their design. Students will also be able to join with other classmates in a fun and safe environment where they can learn to work together to accomplish a task.

Level Four: Minecraft Mod Design: Students will learn how to build and interact with a mod of their creation. They will program and create textures for their mod and can keep the mod for later to show their friends! Students will also be able to join with other classmates in a fun and safe environment where they can learn to work together to accomplish a task.

Learn to constructively build anything with Lasy blocks© as its interlocking features offer students a wide range of creative ways to build models.  Weekly themes include transportation, animal farms, playground, gardens and daily practical life etc. Mechanical power gears may be used to motorize the models as students’ building skills progress. The teacher will demonstrate the techniques and guide the students to design their own models. This will be a good time when your child expresses her/his imagination after a day of hard work at school.

During this class we introduce young singers to a variety of musical genres including classical, jazz, folk and popular music.

1 World Rock Band
This class encourages creative expression, teamwork, and personal accountability. During this class students choose an instrument, and a team of peers to form a band. Next they will choose the songs to learn through a democratic process.

Jump start your child’s STEAM education with Coding with Kids’ Little Coders class! Students will develop their computational thinking skills and build their own creative programs. Our curriculum combines a blend of fun activities – both “on-screen” and “off-screen” – to keep students engaged and excited about coding. This class will give students a strong foundation on coding basics, such as loops and conditionals, that can be built upon in our other classes. Kids will be introduced to these programming fundamentals in a variety of ways appropriate for this age group, from coding puzzles and board games to hands-on programming using online drag-and-drop tools, such as Scratch (scratch.mit.edu).

Do you play games and wonder how they are created? Would you like to build your own computer programs? Come learn how at the Coding with Kids Academy! In this fun after-school class, BEGINNERS will be introduced to the core concepts of computer programming, including loops, conditionals and variables. INTERMEDIATE students will move on to more advanced concepts, such as nested conditionals and functions with parameters. Using the Scratch development environment, you will learn how to create a variety of programs, from simple animations to multi-level games. With new projects each session, you will be able to express your creativity and advance as a coder!

Wu Shu means “martial arts” in Chinese, and has its origins in China for thousands of years.  Wu Shu is the current national sport in China and the many styles of traditional Wushu have been standardized into a unified curriculum within the last century.  Jet Li, Jackie Chan & Donnie Yen are some of the most high profile Wushu practitioners seen in Hollywood.  HCCS Wushu classes will emphasize the learning of martial arts movement without contact or fighting and focus on improving strength, coordination, focus & confidence in each student.

Wushu classes will cover:
1) Flexibility & Stretching Training
2) Wushu Basics
3) Introductory Wushu Forms
4) Exercise & Conditioning
5) Martial Arts Ethics
Classes will be overseen by Sifu Phillip Dang, former US Wushu Team member from 2003-2013 and former University of Oregon Wushu coach from 2002-2006.  A minimum of eight students are required to sign-up for there to be a class.
Important Sign-Up Information:  please fill out Student registration form here and email summitwushu@gmail.com by September 15th with the student’s name attending Wushu class, so that we can determine if there will be enough students to start on September 22nd.  If you receive an email confirmation that there will be a Wushu after-school program, THEN bring $153.00 check or cash on September 22nd, or PayPal phidang16@hotmail.com
