Camp Pan Pan – Weekly, 2017

Camp Pan Pan, a theme-based Chinese language and culture immersion summer camp for K-6 students, incorporates extensive hands-on language and cultural learning opportunities beyond the ordinary language classes.

Weekly summer camp from July 5 – August 11, daily schedule from 9:00 am-3:30 pm (drop-off between 7:30-9:00am, pick-up between 3:15-3:30 pm)

3 class levels: Beginning (0-1 year experience),  Intermediate (2-4 years experience), and Advanced (5 years more)

We Talk Chinese, and We Mean It

Our Chinese immersion environment offers campers unparalleled language learning    experience with STEM subjects and activities, science and engineering practice, and technology use. Incorporating the 5 C (communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, communities) goal areas according to the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages, the curriculum is designed and based on highly-acclaimed teaching and learning principles to ensure an engaging, effective language proficiency development.

Cultural Enrichments: Have Fun Learning Chinese

Daily learner-centered enrichment activities engage campers through interactive Lego Robotics Engineering, Calligraphy Arts and Architecture Crafts, Folk Music and Dance Performance, Chinese Traditional Cooking, and Martial Arts Practice.

Let’s Go Outside!

Outdoor bamboo gardening project for Panpan and loads of exciting field day games like Tug-o-War, Panpan relay, water balloons, Panpan sunshine yoga…endless summer fun!

Field Trip in Week 3, 7/17-21

A curriculum related field trip to Lan Su Garden in week 3, July 17-21, to learn about plants, cultural decorations, and boat house story. Campers (3rd grade and above) will have opportunities to sip, snack, and enjoy the rich Chinese tea culture. A scavenger hunt for decorations and plants will be held at the end of the field trip.

We Bring China to You!

Plans of having visiting students from China are in the works. School aged Chinese students will help out in the classrooms and campers will benefit from this active, unique, first-hand language and culture exchange.

Complimentary before care from 7:30 am – 9:00 am

Pan Pan, a fun and fictional panda, helps the students learn Chinese language and culture through a variety of topics:

All About Pan Pan: life of a panda, personal information, and daily activities

Week 2, July 10 – July 14

Pan Pan’s Bamboo Garden: edible and non-edible plants, food, animals, home/school community

Week 3, July 17 – July 21

Pan Pan’s Friends in the World: world geography, customs and traditions

Week 4, July 24 – July 28

Life Cycles: plants, animals, and humans

Week 5, July 31 – August 4

Tour the World’s Gardens with Pan Pan: plants in different countries

Week 6, August 7 – August 11

Help Protect Pan Pan’s Home: environment and conservation for our home and the earth

Week 2 – 6: $225/per week
Sign up for 3 or more weeks (excluding week 1): ONLY $210/per week

Before/After Care
Before care 7:30 am – 9:00 am: Complimentary!
After care 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm: $40/week

Full payment is due at the time of registration. REGISTER before 4/30/17 and get a 5% discount!
A one time $10 registration fee is non-refundable and due upon registration. This fee is not applied towards the camp cost/aftercare, and does not receive 5% early payment discount.

We reserve the right to change advertised details or cancel a program when necessary.  This may include, but not limited to, combining classes due to small class sizes and rescheduling of classes due to circumstances beyond our control. We will make every effort to contact you about the cancellation and will take steps to make up the class or compensate participants for lost time.

Transferring between weeks is permitted as long as space is available. Transferring must be done in writing/by email to summerprograms@hopeccs.org no less than one week before your child’s registered session starts.

Last-minute changes present a challenge to our camp that can affect staffing, supply ordering, and registration processing. Therefore, there is a $50 fee for any transfer of camp section or session made less than one week prior to the start date of the camp session.

Cancellations are permitted no less than 14 days before the camp session begins. Cancellations must be done in writing/email and $100 of the camp fee (per child, per session) is non-refundable. If you cancel 0-13 days to the start of the session, no refund will be given.
