Hope Chinese Charter School has been named the #1 Best Charter Elementary School in Oregon for the eighth year in a row by Niche.com, a website that provides rankings, reviews and data on schools and cities to help people find the right fit for their needs. Ranking #1 out of 92 Elementary Charter Schools is just the beginning.
In addition, HOPE has also been named:
- #1 Best Charter K-8 School in Oregon (of 30)
- #2 Most Diverse Public K-8 in Oregon (of 94)
- #2 Best Public Elementary School in Washington County (87)
- #2 Best Public K-8 School in Oregon (of 83)
- #2 Best Charter Middle School in Oregon (of 81)
Excellence Across the Board
While HOPE is known internationally for our successful Chinese immersion program, that success reaches beyond language acquisition.
HOPE’s unique academic program supports students to excel in ALL subject areas. In 2024, HOPE had the highest school-wide math proficiency percentage of all public school in Oregon.
Academic data from HOPE aligns with the research that shows dual language learners can achieve substantially higher academic outcomes than their monolingual peers, regardless of race, class, gender, or learning difference. Learning a language as complex as Mandarin develops cognitive flexibility which supports students across all subject areas.
By the time they graduate 8th grade, HOPE students have developed strong academic skills as well as cultural awareness, global perspective and the confidence to succeed in high school and beyond.

It’s exciting to receive top rankings, but we remind ourselves, as we remind our students, that high scores only tell part of the story.
