Summer Programs 2026

Morning Hope Camp

Where language, nature, and community take root.

Through “Cultivating Connections,” our five-week immersive theme, students strengthen their Chinese language skills, explore the science of gardens and nature, and deepen their connection to others.

Why Families Choose Hope Camp

  • It’s thoughtful: A curriculum designed with intention.
  • It’s hands-on: Learning from soil to table through creative discovery.
  • It’s purposeful: Fostering joy and a global perspective.

Our Curriculum in Three Key Components

Through three integrated components, “Cultivating Connections” comes alive as students explore topics such as Seeds of Identity, Water & Trade, The Green Architect, Harvest & Health, and Legacy & Growth.

Chinese Language Immersion: Language as a Living Tool

  • We go beyond memorization to use Mandarin actively in asking questions, solving problems, collaborating on projects, and sharing discoveries.
  • Cultural Arts in Action: Calligraphy, ink-wash painting, and other traditional arts reinforce language in creative ways.
  • Tailored Learning: Students are grouped by age and proficiency to ensure a high-quality, focused experience.

Outdoor Garden & Nature: The Living Lab

  • Our garden is a high-functioning laboratory where students cultivate patience, responsibility, and scientific curiosity.
  • Learning soil health, pollinators, plant life cycles, nature and sustainability.
  • The Full Cycle: From seed to snack, students participate in harvesting and cooking classes, learning to prepare seasonal dishes with the food they grow.

Social Studies & Culture: The Global Citizen

  • We bridge the gap between “me” and “we,” exploring the connections between themselves, their community, and the wider world
  • The Concept: What does it mean to be a global citizen”? We investigate how Chinese innovations—from ancient agriculture to modern urban design—shape our world today.
  • Community Impact: Lessons on food justice, resource sharing, and leading with empathy in a diverse, interconnected world.

Morning Hope Camp Scholarships

Hope Chinese Charter School (HCCS) is fully committed to welcoming a diverse group of students that represents an economically, racially, and culturally diverse community. Not to let financial barriers get in the way of a child’s access to participate, HCCS has a limited number of scholarships, valued at up to $200 per child, available for students who qualify for the free or reduced-price lunch program. In addition, we will consider additional factors such as extenuating family circumstances.

Scholarship applicants must complete Scholarship Application and submit the following to [email protected] within one week of camp registration:

  • Proof of eligibility (supporting documentation to verify your household income or circumstances. This may include tax returns, a statement of benefits or documentation from your school lunch program, or a signed statement from a school official that you are income eligible for free or reduced price lunches, or a statement from a caseworker or other professional who is familiar with your family’s circumstances).

Please note:

  • Qualifying for a scholarship does not guarantee a scholarship award or guarantee a spot in the session of your choice.
  • No-shows: HCCS strives to offer as many children as possible the opportunity to have an enriching Chinese immersion experience. As such, we take no-shows seriously. If you are unable to take advantage of our class, kindly let us know via email at least two weeks before camp starts so we may offer the slot to another eligible child. If we do not receive notice of cancellation, it is possible your child may not be considered for future scholarship opportunities.

After You Register

  • Once your registration is processed, you will receive an email confirmation.
  • Parent Info Sheet will be sent via email before the summer program begins.

We strive to run every scheduled session; however, we may occasionally need to cancel or reschedule classes due to staffing or low enrollment (typically decided 14 days prior to the start date). If your class is affected, we will contact you to coordinate a makeup date or issue a full refund.

If You Need to Cancel

Please note the following policy for student-initiated cancellations:

  • 14+ Days Before Session: Cancellations must be submitted in writing to [email protected]. A $100 cancellation fee will apply.
  • 0–13 Days Before Session: No refunds or credits will be issued for cancellations made within this window.
