Ten Minute Tales: Building Confidence One Scene at a Time

This fall, our student-led theater group took the stage in a brand-new way. Instead of preparing a single large production, our students showcased Ten Minute Tales, a collection of five short skits designed to highlight teamwork, experimentation, and personal growth.

While the performances showcased both comedy, realism and drama, the spotlight was truly on what happened behind the scenes. A number of students stepped into the director’s chair for the first time, guiding their peers, shaping scenes, and gaining a new understanding of leadership and creative decision-making. Others had the opportunity to strengthen their acting skills, spend more time with their lines, and dive deeper into character development in a supportive environment.

This format created space for everyone (whether they were confident performers or stepping on stage for the very first time) to take risks, try new things, and build confidence with every rehearsal. And the results were inspiring. Our student actors showed tremendous growth, not just in their performances, but in themselves.

Ten Minute Tales is just the beginning. The theater group leaders, Quetzali and Sam, intentionally crafted this fall experience to help prepare students for something even bigger. With newfound skills and excitement, they hope more students will be eager to take the stage in their larger spring production, with auditions coming up in January.

We couldn’t be more proud of our student actors and directors for putting their creativity and courage into the spotlight. If Ten Minute Tales is any indication of what’s to come, our spring show is sure to be a hit! Stay tuned, and get ready to cheer on our amazing theater community as they continue to grow, learn, and shine. 🎭✨
