We already know our students are amazing, and we love seeing them shine outside of the classroom! Today, we are thrilled to celebrate third grader Charlotte Kuo.
Charlotte’s beautiful artwork was selected for the 2026–27 Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation calendar. Her piece was showcased at the Oregon State Fair in late August, where she was officially celebrated and awarded a $50 prize—a wonderful surprise for her entire family!
We caught up with Charlotte to learn more about the inspiration behind her winning piece:
What inspired you to draw this, Charlotte?
“I chose to draw about Oregon strawberries because strawberries are my favorite fruit. I think they are delicious! Also, in the summertime one of my favorite things to do is pick strawberries with my family.”
How did you create your masterpiece?
“I used watercolor pencil and looked at pictures my family had taken while we picked strawberries in the past.”
Is there anything else you want to share with us?
“YES—when I was younger, I was allergic to strawberries but now I am not. I’m so glad that I’m not allergic to strawberries anymore!!!”
