Welcome to Hope Rising!

Hope Rising is the collective effort of the Hope Chinese Charter School Board of Directors, working through its Property, Finance, Strategic Planning, and Capital Campaign committees and task force, to secure a permanent home for our school. Our goal is to provide a facility that can better support the needs of our students, teachers, and staff while strengthening Hope’s future for generations to come.

The Hope Rising Project consists of two closely connected efforts: identifying and securing the right long-term facility for Hope, and the Capital Campaign to build the financial support needed to make that vision a reality.

This website serves as the public-facing hub for both efforts. Here, you will find updates on major project milestones, including property due diligence, planning and design, permitting, financing, construction, and Capital Campaign progress. You will also find project timelines and key milestones as they unfold.

Revenue vs. Expenses

Rising operational costs are exceeding our revenue growth.

Aging Infrastructure

Hope operates out of a leased 1960s building that lacks the permanence and space students deserve.

Charter School Are Underfunded

Charter funding provides fewer resources than district schools, while Hope alone covers major facility costs.

In Oregon, charter school students receive only about 48¢ for every $1 of funding received by students in district-operated public schools.

Updates for This Property:

September 27, 2026: The Hope Rising Capital Campaign team hosted an Information Session for the community to socialize and look to the future. The full presentation—covering the campaign overview, pioneer donor recognition, and upcoming volunteer opportunities—is also available for review. A feedback/pledge survey is also provided.

September 18, 2026: The Hope Governing Board officially announced this prospective future home to the whole school community including families and staff. This 43,000-square-foot facility is 60% larger than the current space and could serve as the new campus by the 2027-2028 school year. The Hope Rising property team is currently conducting comprehensive due diligence on the site and will share preliminary plans at a Neighborhood Contact Meeting on October 8 before submitting a conditional use permit application to the city.

July 10, 2026: The Hope Governing Board officially signed a Purchase and Sale Agreement (PSA) for this building, initiating the formal timeline for the school’s intensive due diligence and evaluation phase.

June 12, 2026: The Hope Rising property team entered the final stages of negotiating the Purchase and Sale Agreement (PSA) with this property’s seller and their lender. In preparation for a formal 120-day due diligence period, a team of architects, engineers, and land use consultants actively engaged in the city’s pre-application process to ensure the site can meet the school’s needs and budget. The Hope Governing Board also shared this update with all school staff and faculty.

On Oct 8th, 2026, there will be a Go/No-Go decision by the Board:

The Board needs to see an immediate financial support via pledges to confidently greenlight this project of 2555 SW 153rd Dr, Beaverton and submit the conditional use application.

The Funding Gap for this Property:

Prudent, cashflow-based borrowing leaves a significant shortfall, so in order to make even a bare-bones project viable, it requires ~$2M additional funding (i.e. capital campaign) before Feb 7, 2027.

Immediate Pledge Push:

We must secure concrete, accelerated pledges now (e.g. leveraging Giving Tuesday matches) to demonstrate vital community momentum.

The Hope Rising Capital Campaign is the fundraising arm of the Hope Rising Project. Its purpose is to help secure the resources needed to transform the vision of a permanent home into reality. More than a fundraising effort, this campaign is an opportunity for our entire community to help shape Hope’s future. From the very beginning, Hope has grown because families believed in something different. Our success has always depended on shared ownership, collective vision, and the investment of people who care deeply about our students.

Our families are not simply supporters of this campaign — we are the founding builders of Hope’s next chapter.

Strict Debt Limits: Our borrowing is fundamentally capped by our future cash flow to protect us from unsustainable mortgage payments.
