Cast of 29 students take stage at Beaverton City Library for the spring production.

A sparkling performance.
The stage lights flickered and twins, Abigail and Jacob, were whisked off to another time and place. Throughout the play, the twins visit four different eras with the time-traveling power of the blue sapphires they find along the way. Each time they drag along an assortment of odd characters who all end up participating in a disco dance-off.
The twins were played by Lucie Soriano and Danyon Jamin, with Ethan Chen, Clelia Ouattara, and Cora Seed filling out the main characters. Grace Smith gave an especially well-accented performance in her role as the pirate Mary Read.
Both performances of the HCCS Theater Club’s spring production were marked by laughs and a light show! By moving their show to the Beaverton City Library auditorium and stage, the Theater Club had to get creative with a mobile lighting and set design.

Students Lead The Way
In it’s first year, the HCCS Theater Club has put on two productions and captured the interest of a large group of students from 3rd to 8th grade. Sixth graders, Quetzali Avila and Samuel Barron, founded this club and directed both plays with the support of Ms. Lindsey and numerous parent volunteers.
As leaders, Quetzali and Sam have worked through the ins and outs of holding auditions, running weekly rehearsals, learning about set design, props and costuming, and helping their fellow students act out the play with passion and energy.
We can’t to see what the HCCS Theater Club has in store for the 2025-2026 school year. There is a rumor it could involve lions and tigers and bears, oh my!
