Dear Hope Friends & Family,

Every year, we emphasize the importance of volunteering at the school and making financial gifts to ensure we cover our annual budget gap. However, there are other ways you can support our school that don’t require any money or being available to volunteer during school hours.

Below is a list of big and small things that every Hope family can do to support our school. Skim the list and identify one thing you can do this week! Keep the other things in mind and revisit this list anytime.

Virtual Support Matters

WHY? When we apply for grants or request support from community organizations, their program officers always check our online reviews and social media presence to determine if we are actively engaging our community. It may seem like a small thing, but your reviews and engagement online can translate to our school being seen as a strong applicant for grants and sponsorships.

Community Networking

Each of us have a network of people, whether it is from personal, professional, or recreational circles. Within our individual networks, we can generate a lot of support for our school! There are many ways we can ask our network to support Hope programs and/or fundraising. Here are a few ideas:

  • Ask your favorite restaurant or retail shop to donate gift cards or certificates.
  • Know a business owner? Ask them to sponsor a school fundraiser.
  • If your company matches gifts, invite your colleagues to make a gift for Giving Tuesday.
  • If your company matches volunteer hours, invite colleagues to volunteer at Hope.
  • You can also help gather exciting prizes for the Xi Wang Gala & Auction:
    • Does your company have season tickets to entertainment venues or sports teams?
    • Would your landscaper, car detailer, lash technician, yoga instructor, etc donate their services?
    • Do you have a connection with a vacation home or timeshare?

Remember, Hope Chinese Charter School adds value to our broader community through tuition-free language immersion, cultural performances, collaboration with culturally-specific organizations, and employment. Inviting those in your network to support HCCS makes a positive impact on our whole community.

In-Kind Donations

An In-Kind donation is a non-cash contribution of goods or services, rather than money. In-Kind Donations can make a huge difference in saving our school money, improving our facilities for students and teachers, and even helping our school raise money.

One amazing example of an In-Kind Donation in 2023 came from Team Flash Athletics, LLC. Thanks to Hope parent, Jon Lee, Team Flash donated five of their outdoor basketball hoops for our students to use during P.E. and recess. They are also used by neighborhood families on the weekends.

Other examples of In-Kind Donations might be:

  • A fancy dessert for the Xi Wang Gala Dessert Dash
  • Gift cards or unopened/new items for our annual auction
  • A professional good or service from a business you own or manage
  • Loyalty Rewards or Membership Points you have not used
  • Gift airline points to help teachers travel to conferences
  • Convert Hilton Honors points into a donation through Point Worthy
  • Convert American Express Membership Rewards points to a cash donation on JustGiving.
