Applications for the following academic year will be available the first day back from Winter Break. Applications are due the last business day in February and the Public Lottery will be held the first week in March. Exact dates will also be posted on our website under “Admissions” & “Apply”.
We continue to accept applications for enrollment after the lottery application deadline. Applications received after the deadline will be placed on our waitlist and whenever there is an opening, we contact students from the waitlist until April 30th of that academic year. Movement in the waitlist varies on the year and it could happen at any point. Please fill out an application so we can be sure to include your child on the waitlist and we will contact you as soon as an opening is available.
Hope Chinese Charter School is open to all residents of the Portland/Beaverton metro area.
Applications for the lottery are given priority in the following order:
– First: Siblings of students currently enrolled in Kindergarten-8th grade at the time of the lottery
– Second: In-District residents of the Beaverton School District
– Third: Out-of-District residents
We strongly recommend attending a School Tour or Information Session to gain a better understanding of the mission and values of HCCS and be sure it will be a good match for your child. However, attending a School Tour or Information Session is not mandatory.
No. Lottery waitlists are only valid until April 30th of the specified academic year. You should only apply for the specified academic year you would like to enroll your child in the school.

No, as a public charter school, there are no fees to apply and no tuition for attending Kindergarten-8th grade at Hope Chinese Charter School. We do however expect your support as a volunteer (30 hours per family per year) and request financial contributions and/or assistance in raising funds since we do not receive full funding from the state.
Applications are accepted for one grade per student as determined by the student’s birthdate or by the last grade successfully completed in a public school.
The state of Oregon and Beaverton School District policy requires students to be age five (5) on or before September 1st to be eligible to enter Kindergarten. We will be verifying ages prior to the lottery.
Students who would like to apply for a grade higher than the grade they are eligible for must provide documentation and assessment results from a public school indicating they have been approved to do so.
Sibling priority is only given if the family has a student who is currently enrolled at the time of the lottery.
Waitlisted siblings of twins/triplets/etc will not receive priority based on the acceptance of a sibling, through the lottery or from the waitlist, for the current application year.
Yes. Lottery waitlists are only valid until April 30th of the specified academic year. You must complete an application to be included in the enrollment lottery for the following academic year. It is possible for a student to be on the waiting list for both the current academic year through April and the following year as they are independent lists.
No. The waiting list for each year is specific to that academic year and has no bearing on a student’s odds of being offered a slot for another academic year. You must complete the enrollment process for the new year and submit a new application to be eligible for a slot in the next academic year.
All students transitioning from the Tiny Dragons Preschool to Kindergarten must complete an application to be entered in the Lottery for Enrollment.
Tiny Dragons is a private school program whereas Hope Chinese Charter School (HCCS) is a public school program. Students enrolled in the preschool are not given priority in the enrollment lottery.
Applications for the lottery are given priority in the following order:

We encourage you to consult the information on our website in addition to attending a School Tour and/or Information Session to learn more information about our school. If you have any further questions that have still not been answered, you are welcome to contact the school.
Children who successfully complete the academic year at HCCS will be promoted to the next grade level for the following academic year. A new application does not need to be completed. However, returning students will need to fill out a registration form to indicate that they will be returning in the next year.
We believe in the importance of trying to keep siblings together at the same school. Therefore, siblings of current students do receive preference in our lottery for enrollment whether they are In-District or Out-of-District residents. We expect that all applicants for Kindergarten, who have a sibling currently enrolled at HCCS will be offered a slot for admission. If you are applying for a grade higher than Kindergarten, your child will be given priority in the enrollment lottery and acceptance will be dependent on space available. Please be sure to complete an application for your child and indicate that they have a sibling currently enrolled at HCCS.
Regarding twins/triplets who apply, if one child gets in, the other child applying is not automatically given sibling priority. They will only be offered a spot if the lottery number is picked.
