    Play.Fit.Fun. is like PE that has crashed into field day and then bumped into team building! Activities are organized, uplifting, empowering and 100% focused on the kids! Kids will have fun being active and then finish their day with renewed energy and focus.

    This course will engage students’ creative and playful characters with cool and popular animations to manipulate with coding line. We will make games such as Flappy Bird, T-rex Runner (AKA no internet game) Pusheen Donut Hunter, and more.

    Expect your child to learn about Loops and Variables, Events and Actions, Blocks and Alarms, and actual C++ programming language on top of general graphic design knowledge such as alpha channels and pixels. Math is another large component to this course with graphing systems and x/y positions and angles.

    There will be an opportunity to work on the games and personal projects at home with fun extracurricular YouTube video tutorials and an instructions!

    Mandarin language proficiency need only be basic level to engage in the course

    Sing Wiggle & Play continues in the winter on Tuesdays with core favorite and added new songs and activities. Music learning supports all learning ~ cognitive, physical, language, social, and emotional. In an informal, playful approach, each child explores and discovers music and movement in Sing, Wiggle, & Play. Continue the musical fun!  Spread the word to other families – the more the merrier!

    Miss Sally has been making music with young children since her teens in church and school settings. She currently teaches parent/child classes at Allegro Music Together Hillsboro as a licensee of Music Together Worldwide.

    Students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and improve a variety of machines and mechanical systems. Students learn basics of energy, traction, aerodynamics, and durability while constructing roller coasters, eggstreme defense vehicles, and an incredibly fast airpowered custom dragster.

    Yoga is a physical and mental workout for students of all ages.  The practice can benefit one’s ability to self-regulate emotions, become more focused and better aware of environmental stressors.  Intro to Yoga is offered as an 8 week series that will focus on basic poses, breathing techniques and meditation practices. This class is open to those who are willing to try something new and are dedicated to improving themselves from within.  Students are asked to commit to at least six of the eight sessions, as each class will build new skills to help students become more flexible and mindful.
    Participants will need to bring their own yoga mat and water bottle.

    This class is led by Kristen Wong who is an ACE certified group fitness instructor and YogaFit practitioner with over twenty years of instructor experience. Proceeds go to support HCCS…Thank you, Kristen!

    Get them started early! The Little Coders class provides young students with the basics of computational thinking skills, such as loops and conditionals, through a fun blend of hands-on activities. The curriculum is built specifically for this age group, with a mix of activities from coding puzzles and board games to easy-to-use, drag-and-drop programming tools. Projects are updated each session, so returning students will have new challenges to work through and advance their knowledge.

    Enter the world of movie and game animations! Students will learn the core skills of creating simple animated movies, creating 2D and 3D characters and animating those. Take your learning beyond stop-motion animation with real animation design tools. You will get to create real computer graphics and build animations like the pros!

    Engaging students through hands-on experiments, they will understand the process of the scientific method as well as develop science skills such as observing, analyzing, inferring, measuring, communicating, and problem solving. Students will observe and discover a particular scientific phenomenon each week led by an experienced science teacher.

    This is a fun course designed for learners kinder to 5th grade, with little or no background in Spanish, to gain a basic knowledge of reading, writing and conversation through fun activities, music, and games! Students are divided by age group. If class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or any other circumstances beyond our control you will be notified via-email.

    Wu Shu means “martial arts” in Chinese, and has its origins in China for thousands of years. Wu Shu is the current national sport in China and the many styles of traditional Wushu have been standardized into a unified curriculum within the last century. Jet Li, Jackie Chan & Donnie Yen are some of the most high profile Wushu practitioners seen in Hollywood. HCCS Wushu classes will emphasize the learning of martial arts movement without contact or fighting and focus on improving strength, coordination, focus & confidence in each student.

    Wushu classes will cover:
    1) Flexibility & Stretching Training
    2) Wushu Basics
    3) Introductory Wushu Forms
    4) Exercise & Conditioning
    5) Martial Arts Ethics

    Classes will be overseen by Sifu Peter Dang, former US Wushu Team member from 2003-2013 and head instructor at the Summit Wushu Academy. A minimum of ten students are required to sign-up for there to be a class.

    Important Sign-Up info: Please email [email protected] by January 3rd, 2020 with the student’s name attending Wushu class, so that we can determine if there will be enough students to start on January 10th, 2020.
