    LEGO Education WeDo 2.0  is a hands-on STEM solution that combines the LEGO brick, classroom-friendly software, engaging standards-based projects, and a discovery-based approach. Designed with collaboration in mind, each Core Set supports two students, introducing them to computational thinking and engineering principles in a fun and engaging way.

    Come dance with renowned Haiyan International Dance Academy (HIDA.) HIDA is offering an exciting, high quality dance, in-school dance class designed for middle school students to enjoy the world of dance: classical ballet, stretching, Jazz, Hiphop, and contemporary.

    This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. The essentials of baseball, basketball and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun. Our Mini-Hawk games and activities were designed to allow campers to explore balance, movement, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace. Skyhawks staff are trained to handle the specific needs of young athletes.

    In an informal, playful approach, each child explores and discovers music and movement. Activities include chant and song, small movement and large movement, rhythm instruments and scarves, and more! Music learning supports all learning ~ cognitive, physical, language, social, and emotional.
    Miss Sally has been making music with young children since her teens in church and school settings. She currently teaches parent/child classes at Allegro Music Together Hillsboro as a licensee of Music Together Worldwide.

    Our Multi-Sport camp is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports in one setting. For this program we combine 2-3 sports into one fun-filled week. Athletes will learn the rules and essentials of each sport through skill-based games and scrimmages. By the end of the week, your child will walk away with knowledge of (2 or 3) new sports along with vital life lessons such as respect, teamwork, and self-discipline.

    EmpowerDI is a youth leadership program for students in K – 8th grade that promotes creativity, teamwork, problem solving, and self-confidence. In each session, your child will learn leadership and teamwork practices, engage in 5 minute instant challenges, and work on their ongoing team projects. EmpowerDI provides an environment where your child will be challenged and encouraged to become a leader in their school and community.

    Our castle is being invaded by a neighboring kingdom!  In this class, students will create our own version of a Tower Defense game set in a far off medieval kingdom under siege by an army of knights!  They will use the Engineering Design Process to create a storyboard to outline the rules of play and characters for our game. Then, they will use Clickteam Fusion 2.5® to bring our storyboard to life with programming. At the end of the class, everyone takes home a working Windows-compatible game.

    Through the use of improv games, theater exercises, and imagination, students will create and explore a world of characters and new experiences. Our experienced theater educators will teach theater basics: from projection and stage presence, to expression and character development, all while bringing scripts to life!

    This is a fun course designed for learners kinder to 5th grade, with little or no background in Spanish, to gain basic knowledge of reading, writing  and conversation through fun activities, music, and games!  Students are divided by age group. If class is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or any other circumstances beyond our control you will be notified via-email.

    Wu Shu means “martial arts” in Chinese, and has its origins in China for thousands of years.  Wu Shu is the current national sport in China and the many styles of traditional Wushu have been standardized into a unified curriculum within the last century.  Jet Li, Jackie Chan & Donnie Yen are some of the most high profile Wushu practitioners seen in Hollywood.  HCCS Wushu classes will emphasize the learning of martial arts movement without contact or fighting and focus on improving strength, coordination, focus & confidence in each student.  
     
    Wushu classes will cover:
    1) Flexibility & Stretching Training
    2) Wushu Basics
    3) Introductory Wushu Forms
    4) Exercise & Conditioning
    5) Martial Arts Ethics
     
    Classes will be overseen by Sifu Peter Dang, former US Wushu Team member from 2003-2013 and head instructor at the Summit Wushu Academy.  A minimum of eight students are required to sign-up for there to be a class.  
     
    Important Sign-Up Information:  please email [email protected] by August 28th, 2019 with the student’s name attending Wushu class, so that we can determine if there will be enough students to start on September 6th, 2019
