Applications are accepted for one grade per student as determined by the student’s birthdate or by the last grade successfully completed in a public school. The only exceptions would be if the family indicated they would like their child to repeat the grade they are currently enrolled in.

My child was accepted in the lottery, do the siblings on the waitlist now qualify for sibling priority?2019-04-18T15:50:17-08:00

Sibling priority is only given if the family has a student who is currently enrolled at the time of the lottery.

Waitlisted siblings of twins/triplets/etc will not receive priority based on the acceptance of a sibling, through the lottery or from the waitlist, for the current application year.

Do I need to submit a new application if my child is on the waitlist for the current academic?2019-04-18T15:54:00-08:00

Yes. Lottery waitlists are only valid until April 30th of the specified academic year. You must complete an application to be included in the enrollment lottery for the following academic year. It is possible for a student to be on the waiting list for both the current academic year through April and the following year as they are independent lists.

Will my current waitlist standing offer priority in the lottery for the following academic year?2019-04-18T15:51:07-08:00

No. The waiting list for each year is specific to that academic year and has no bearing on a student’s odds of being offered a slot for another academic year. You must complete the enrollment process for the new year and submit a new application to be eligible for a slot in the next academic year.

Current Student: What is the process to register for the following year?2019-06-12T08:02:05-08:00

Children who successfully complete the academic year at HCCS will be promoted to the next grade level for the following academic year. A new application does not need to be completed. However, returning students will need to fill out a registration form to indicate that they will be returning in the next year.

Current Student: Sibling Priority2019-06-12T08:01:28-08:00

We believe in the importance of trying to keep siblings together at the same school. Therefore, siblings of current students do receive preference in our lottery for enrollment whether they are In-District or Out-of-District residents. We expect that all applicants for Kindergarten, who have a sibling currently enrolled at HCCS will be offered a slot for admission. If you are applying for a grade higher than Kindergarten, your child will be given priority in the enrollment lottery and acceptance will be dependent on space available. Please be sure to complete an application for your child and indicate that they have a sibling currently enrolled at HCCS.

Regarding twins/triplets who apply, if one child gets in, the other child applying is not automatically given sibling priority. They will only be offered a spot if the lottery number is picked.

Will HCCS be adding higher grades in the future? Can I enroll my older student?2019-06-12T08:04:32-08:00

In the fall of 2019, we will become a full K-8 school. We do not currently have plans to add any grades higher than 8th grade.
