Yannie is on her 10th year at HCCS! She is best known as 2A’s English teacher, and is also the ELD Instructor.

Yannie attended Pacific University for her undergraduate and master’s degree. She majored in elementary education and also got an ESOL endorsement. During CDL time she also got a TEFL certification. Yannie has had many teaching experiences that ranged from preschool to college aged students and decided that elementary years are her favorite!
For hobbies, Yannie like a variety of things! She enjoys baking for friends and family. Some of the things that she enjoys making are cookies, madeleines, cakes, and egg tarts. Yannie also likes racket sports such as tennis, badminton, ping pong, and pickleball.

A Message from Yannie

Learning languages is a hobby of mine as I find it fun to communicate with others in their native languages. I currently know Cantonese and am working on my Japanese skills. Surprisingly, my Mandarin listening skills have improved at HCCS! I hope to learn more languages in the future.

It is a joy seeing my students learn, grow,  and mature. I’m happy that I have good and positive connections with my students (current and former!) They know that this is a safe place where they can make mistakes and overcome challenges with me. I love it when students get “ah ha!” moments and see their big smiles when they succeed. When I see my current and former students greet me, it makes my day! It is a joy working at HCCS!
