This is Leif’s first year at Hope!
“I have been privileged to teach for 6 months at Hope Chinese Charter School. I began my journey here as the Middle School Social Studies Teacher and now teach 3rd-grade English. There are few communities like HCCS. There is a culture here that transcends academia and feels like home. I am beyond grateful to the students, parents, and staff who have welcomed me with open arms into your community.”
Lief has a Masters in Teaching with a specialty in Secondary Education Social Studies, as well as a Bachelors degree in History & Behavioral Psychology. He enjoys traveling and experiencing different cultures, as well as podcasting, chess, and Philosophy!
A Message from Lief
During my time at Hope Chinese Charter School, I have had the opportunity to integrate my teaching philosophy and provide insight on how to expand our Social Studies curriculum and civic engagement. One of my proudest accomplishments is contributing to the planning of a 2026 EF Middle School trip to Athens, Greece. This program, in collaboration with our Middle School English Teacher, Emily Ingalls, aims to provide students with a unique educational experience that combines learning and travel. This trip will be an incredible opportunity for our students to immerse themselves in the rich history and culture of Athens, creating memories that will last a lifetime. My ultimate goal is to cultivate respect and love for history by providing opportunities that excite and challenge students beyond the classroom.
